About This Spot

Stepping into Java Jazz, you’re gently drawn into a warm, inviting nook that naturally encourages slowing down and soaking in the moment. Nestled along Lahaina’s lively Lower Honoapiilani Road, this spot carries a laid-back yet distinct personality—part cozy local favorite, part spirited gathering place infused with a creative edge. The atmosphere hums softly with an undercurrent of jazz melodies, setting a relaxed pace that feels unhurried but never still.

The standout here isn’t just the food on the plate, though that deserves its own quiet celebration. It’s the way each dish—whether it’s a stack of fluffy banana pancakes or a blackened fish sandwich fresh from local waters—lands as a thoughtful expression of place and time. Every meal feels like a conversation, framed by savory comforts and unexpected touches that hint at personal stories behind the menu. Sharing a meal here is a way to connect with the island’s rhythms, amplified by the friendly buzz of attentive staff who seem genuinely happy to be part of your experience.

Java Jazz’s atmosphere carries a lived-in charm, woven from eclectic decor and walls dotted with Polaroids and local art that invite curious glances and quiet smiles. Evenings come alive with live music, adding an almost cinematic quality to the space without ever overpowering the moment. The setting encourages easy conversations and reflection, making it a place where you might just pause to appreciate how simple moments—good food, warm company, a familiar tune—hold their own kind of magic.

For those who linger, there’s a warmth that grows with each visit. Whether you’re settling in for breakfast, enjoying a midday break, or unwinding after a day exploring Maui’s charms, Java Jazz quietly asserts itself as a place where time softens, and the joy of discovery cultivates a fresh appreciation for everyday pleasures.

This is our go to place when in Maui and we have visited them at least 10 times in the past 10 years. Food is delicious- service is top notch, ambience is simply amazing- and Farzad ( the owner) is your new best friend! Will return and enjoy this establishment for the years to come!

We were on the Hawaiian Islands for three weeks. Everything was great. – Only the food was mostly disappointing. But then: On Maui – thanks to Google – we discovered this restaurant shortly before the end of our trip. Inconspicuous in a row of shops, but what an extraordinary interior design; and live music in the evenings. And above all: finally excellent food! We were there three times. Our favourite: The Tenderloin/ Filet Mignon with Mushed potatoes. Wonderful meat, excellently prepared and finally a side dish beyond fries or chips. Also fish, vegetarian dishes were excellent! Enough free seats, super friendly staff. We could hardly believe it! Forget crowded, mediocre, expensive resort restaurants or the takeaways in the park next door. Don't miss out on this restaurant!

The bizarre art decor of this jazz bar and grill is to be viewed. So much interesting elements. The menu is large, the food comes out very fast, piping hot, with generous portions. The servers have a chill vibe, but attentive and professional. Make sure to ask the owner about the Polaroid pictures pasted on much of the walls. Looking forward to returning one day.

What a magical place with such delicious food. If you're lucky enough, you'll be graciously served by Mr. Nader. As funny as it might sound, we originally tried to have brunch at Slappy Cakes, located in the same plaza. But we had the “good luck” of receiving slightly condescending treatment from the person assigning tables, and the wait time was 20 minutes. That gave us the chance to stroll around the plaza, and that’s when we discovered Java Jazz. With the video and photos, you’ll get a sense of the pleasant atmosphere and the presentation of the dishes. We enjoyed the Uncle Mike's Moko Loco and the Hawaiian Omelette. Both dishes were delicious, and the prices weren’t as steep as the rest of Hawaii. They have live music in the evenings, so we’ll definitely be coming back to enjoy this place again. The best part of all was the truly special service we received. Mahalo, Nader. Update: We couldn’t wrap up this review without mentioning the nighttime vibe at Java Jazz. We went back two days after our first visit for breakfast, this time in the evening and it was fantastic! The live music and Luhana’s exceptional service made it clear: this was hands down the best spot we visited during our week in Maui. Honestly, it even topped the pricey luau we attended. So, mahalo Nader one more time, and a big mahalo to Luhana!
